We are excited to announce the launch of the Zoonotic Behavioral Resource Assessments (ZBRA) web-based toolkit. The Breakthrough ACTION project, supported through USAID funding, has developed ZBRA to equip researchers, public health practitioners, government officials, and other implementing partners or stakeholders to conduct behavioral research on PZDs and learn from existing research.
The purpose of ZBRA is to strengthen behavioral research on priority zoonotic diseases in order to inform evidence-based risk communication and community engagement.
The current version of the ZBRA toolkit is focused on research conducted by Breakthrough ACTION in 11 countries in Africa that are implementing risk communication and community engagement (RCCE) programming under the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA). The toolkit highlights key preventative behaviors and risk behaviors that cross-cut common PZDs and could prompt a zoonotic event or propagate person-to-person transmission. It also offers insights into individual and sociocultural determinants influencing behaviors.
